About Jaideep Chopra
JCHaving lived in Mumbai during his engineering college days, Bollywood always held a special charm for Chopra and he dreamt of being associated with the film industry from a very young age. However, since he did not know anybody in the industry personally and did not see himself beginning at the grassroots level, he shelved his dream for a later day. He spent the next few years exploring and being established in the telecom industry. Old dreams, however, are hard to forget and with his creative bent of mind, he saw a potential story in every incident and a potential character in every person. It was then that he realized that the time had come to bring his dream to life.
He directed and co-produced his first film Maazii in 2012-13. Maazii, written by Sumit Nijhawan and Shirish Sharma, was co-produced and marketed by FilmyBox. Despite limited marketing and a small release, the film received great critical acclaim from film critics and Chopra's work was compared to the "stylish thrillers of B.R. Chopra like Dhund and Ittefaq" and the Maazii was touted as the "shocking surprise of the season"
His film MAAZII won several awards , like best independent movie of 2013 by IBN7 LIVE, Award of excellence at indie cine film festival los angeles 2014, Honorable mention at SUNSET film festival 2014 los angeles, Special festive mention at Indian cine film festival 2014 mumbai, official selection at dada saheb phalke film festival 2014 delhi, nominated for best song in raga based category by radio mirchi.
He was also a part of the jury at Delhi international shorts film festival 2014
Profile of Director Jaideep Chopra
Jaideep Chopra is an Electronics engineer from Delhi. He had been very successful in the telecommunication industry. He had been the give president of GFIVE INTERNATIONAL LIMITED in Hong Kong. In 2012 he came to Mumbai to fulfil his childhood dream and passion to become a director.
He has directed several advertisements from television. He produced and directed Hindi movie “Maazii” that was released on 27th Sep 2013. The film couldn’t get screen to commercially it did not perform well at box office. But the film receives a very high critical acclaim from the leading critics of INDIA.
The film won several awards globally along with the award for the best independent film of 2013 by IBM live.
DNA and Mumbai Mirror also publish an article on the best films of 2013 and “Maazii” was one among them.
The music of the film was much appreciated and one song was also nominated for Radio Mirchi Awards.
